>does anyone have any good recommenfations for inflamed joints? I have sporadic osteo-arthritis in my sacro-iliac joint and boy is it painful. I've been cranky all day - it started after I left for work and I couldn't get any herbs from home... I've been thinking over the herbs I use and I'd welcome more recommendations - I use black willow bark, black cohosh, devil's claw or celery seed but I'm never totally happy with the response. The best reaction I had was one evening in great pain when I chucked a teaspon of six or seven teas in a pot - it tasted so vile but really helped my back a lot. Any suggestions?

I know a number of people who use buckthorn bark, nettles and birch leaves as a tea. I can't remember the exact formula, but I will try to find it. Most of the people who I've talked to say that the difference they've noticed from before they started is amazing. Anyways... look here for the formula... I will try to get it here by Monday (Tuesday at the latest).

Ok... here's that stuff I was talking about (Ya, I know, I said Monday, but I found it earlier then I thought).

1 tbsp. Birch Leaves
1 tbsp. Buckthorn Bark
1 tbsp. Nettles (leaves)

Place the above in a litre of water and bring to a boil. Let simmer for approx. 20 min, cool, and then strain.
Store in the fridge. ** Take 2 oz. of the tea a day, -no more- **

This should certainly help. I don't know about the taste, though. I've had people tell me that it tastes great, others say that they can't even drink it. Anyways, I hope you have luck with this.

A massage oil useful for arthritis is: steep nutmeg, mace & cayenne pepper in warm oil until it turns a lovely orange. Add some wintergreen oil. Rub warm on the area morning & evening, & cover with a warm/hot wash cloth until it cools. I have an arthritic lady who swears by this formula.
