While at work 2 days ago, I began to experience a mild migraine. It was not enough to send me running to a dark room, but it was very painful. Thanks to all the discussions I've read in this group about Feverfew for migraine, I went out to the sales floor and grabbed a bottle to purchase. Two capsules and 20 minutes later, I was back in business and feeling better than I had in days! Wow, what a difference...feverfew is better than any ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen or Midrin I have ever tried! And a lot quicker.
Thanks to everyone for the information.
P.S. I work in a pharmacy as a technician, and the pharmacist was amazed at how quickly my headache went away. I think I may convince him of the value of herbs yet!

I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but I put an ice pack on the back of my neck, and sometimes a cold washcloth across my forehead. The ice pack usually helps a lot.

> Also, I would appreciate any other techniques for migraine prevention and/or cure as none of the drugs prescribed by the neurologist have had any impact.

Non-herbal, but effective:
Place a heat source, such as a heating pad, or hot towels, so that the heat is being applied to the entire upper back, neck and skull. the easiest way is to lie on the heat source, and tuck it snugly around the back of the head and neck with some little pillows.

In combination with a mild muscle relaxant or sedative, this can often give relief.

: I have absolutely no idea if this will help anyone else, but I find chewing dried ginseng bits (put the root in a Baggie and hit it with a hammer to get small pieces) seems to abate MY headaches. Can't hurt, anyway.

If it does, then your headaches are predictably dull aches involving the head generally, that result from a lack of energy or poor digestion.

Can't hurt, however, is not how I would describe this idea. Even personally, with my fairly high level of vitality, if I consume ginseng by itself it gives me a headache even if I was feeling fine. Ginseng will give most headache sufferers a MUCH worse headache. So don't do this unless you suspect they have the cause mentioned above.

ESPECIALLY DO NOT DO THIS FOR MIGRAINE.
