A mixture of St. John's wort (Hypericum) oil (analgesic, anti-inflammatory) and mullein (Verbascum) oil (mild sedative) [equal parts]. Warm to body temp. and put 2-3 drops in each ear. This will soften the wax and aid the body's natural elimination. Support the treatment with tinctures of purple coneflower (echinacea) (supports the immune system) plantain (Plantago lanceolata) (useful for middle ear problems), and pasque flower (Anemone pulsatilla) (acts directionally on ears)

Be aware that severe ear infections can lead to deafness. Seek professional help if symptoms persist.

**Above information mostly from 'The Complete Medicinal Herbal' by Penelope Ody a very useful book**

If the ear is stopped up, without pain or heat, try some alcohol. The "swimmers ear" is often caused by water from the shower getting into the ear and not drying out properly. This will also help if you have a minor wax build up inside the ear. If there is an infection in the ear, this will feel painful, but will help kill the germs.
