A very good, well known, almost ridiculously simple, nutritional remedy for gout is cherries or cherry juice (pure). Folks with gout have a high concentration of uric acid in their blood. Cherries seem to keep uric acid from crystallizing and becoming deposited in joints.
Use fresh or canned, 2 cups a day, and some relief should be felt within 10 days. Their calcium-phosphorous ratio is excellent. They contain 191 mg of potassium per 100 grams and neglible sodium. They are also richly supplied in iron which help improve blood and treat anemia. Sour cherries are even higher in these contents. Although some folks just can't eat straight sour, they can be mixed with the sweet for better results.
Any of the following herbs may be beneficial and can be taken singly or in any combination. Use a teaspoon to a cup of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes, take four cups a day, before meals and bedtime: broom, burdock, mugwort, blue violet, gentian root, rue, birch, sarsaparilla, ginger, buckthorn, wood betony and plantain.
In addition to this, drinking three to four quarts of purified water is great for cleansing effect.
They should avoid all meats as major sources of protein. They will produce excess urea, uric acid and fatty deposits. Other high protein foods, above 15 grams, should be taken in small amounts only.
There is also a "congee" or rice water gruel made from Aduki Bean that is used by the Chinese for gout.

I have a friend who has gout, she said she has found the absolute best thing is cherries. Coldpressed unproccessed cherry juice or just cherries when they are fresh.
