Rick,
I use passion flower herb and lavendar herb combined. Initially I used passion flower herb blended with lavender flower essence in equal doses I would use it throughout the day, 10-15 drops 5 to six times. I did not experience sleepiness, but it definitely had a calming effect on me. However, when I tried Lavender Herb in place of the flower essence, I did get the yawns. A friend of mine gets so relaxed with either combination (Herb or flower essence) that she can only take it before bedtime; otherwise she requires a mid-day nap. But if you are experiencing insomnia, I would certainly recommend adding lavender to your passion flower. Passion flower herb used alone, seems to put me at a heightened level of awareness regarding my innermost feelings and senses. It certainly doesn't put me to sleep.
