Laryngitis is an inflamation of the larynx (voice box) generally caused by a virus or bacteria, or straining of the voice. Symptons include pain, coughing, and horesness.

Aromatherapy...
Essential oils of sandalwood and lavender are soothing. To use in a gargle: add one drop of each to ½ glass of warm water; add 2 drops of essential oil of lemon or peperment if you have an infection.
Herbalism....
decoction of echinacea is effective against viral and bacterial attacks of laryngitis. Put two teaspoond of the powdered root in one cup of water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 15 minutes; drink 3 times a day.
Both rosemary and sage are aromatic, anticeptic, and rich in potent healing oils. Ladys mantle can also help reduce inflammation. Try making a gargle using 15g dried, or 45g fresh purple sage leaves, 10g dried, or 20g fresh rosemary leaves, and 5 g dried ladies mantle leaves. Add freshly boiled water to the herbs, steep for ten minutes, store in a cool place. Gargle with a wineglass full 2-3 times a day. Swallow the mixture after garling.
Take 2x200 mg capsules of garlic 3 times a day to support the imuune system.
add two drops each of sandalwood, lavender and frankencense essential oils to a bowl of boiling water, inhale the steam for 10 minutes.
Add the same oils to 5 ml of sweet almond oil and massage around throat.
