HERBS FOR THE WINDOW SILL:
BASIL - sow a pinch in pot, and prevent flowering for long life.
CHIVES - pot up divisions from garden clumps; keep well fed and watered.
PARSLEY - choose a compact variety, sow in spring and again in late summer.
THYME - start from seed or cuttings rooted direct in the pots; keep in full light and water sparingly.
CHERVIL - sow in spring and again in late summer in quantity in a wide pan.
MARJORAM - grow like thyme; choose sweet marjoram for warm rooms, or the hardier pot marjoram where it is cooler.
SAGE - strike cutting and keep trimmed frequently; be sure to select a variegated kind for indoor color.

I have these growing in my kitchen by a south facing slide door window. They are all doing great. Good luck.

Basil, orageno, tarragon, thyme, chives, mint are all easy to grow inside.

I suggest purchasing the small plant and planting them in your windowsill potter.
