Flowers that color the desert yellow.
Clarence Jackson sent me these pics, asking what they are.
Pic: Flowers, slightly blurred. (Bad scanner? Bad photo? I've no idea.)
That's Eschscholzia, but the species? They're from El Paso, Texas ... the plants.usda site says only California poppy, Eschscholzia californica thrives there.
I've taken pics of the California poppy coloring the landscape yellow, too, but that wasn't quite that yellow. Here's one of mine, for contrast.
