Cataplasmata. Poultices.
Preparations:
Poultices are thick pasty preparations usually intended to be made as required. Except in special cases, the boiling water is placed in a previously warmed basin, and the powder, or mixed powders, stirred in with a warm spoon until a mass of the proper consistence results. This is placed in a muslin bag and applied hot; the linen may be protected by covering the poultice with jaconet, oiled silk, or gutta percha tissue.
