Mix the glycerin and diluted sulphuric acid with 90 (18 fluid ounces) of the alcohol and percolate the drug with the mixture. Reserve the first 75 (15 fluid ounces) of percolate, continue the percolation with the alcohol until the drug is exhausted, and, evaporate the weak percolate to a soft extract at a temperature not exceeding 50°; dissolve this in the reserved portion, and add sufficient of the alcohol to make up to the required volume.
Liquid extract of rose is a suitable colouring agent for acid mixtures, in the proportion of 1 to 30 of mixture.
