Barringtonia. Barringtonia speciosa.—The large Indo-Malayan tree, Barringtonia speciosa Forst. (Fam. Myrtaceae) contains, according to Maresuw, 3.3 per cent. of barringtonin, a colorless, amorphous glucoside, having the formula C18H28O10, and belonging to the saponin group.
