Oroxylon. Oroxylon indicum Vent. (Fam. Bignoniaceae.)—This East India bark is said to be not only a tonic and astringent, useful in diarrhea, but also a powerful sudorific. A yellow crystalline substance, oroxylin, has been separated from the bark by Naylor and Chapman (P. J., Sept., 1890), and from the seeds by Hooper (P. J., vol. lxi). The seeds have been used in veterinary medicine.
