Hi Anne!
Mugwort can be used externally to relieve itching prepared in a standard infusion. For internal use, it can be prepared as a tea or in an alcohol based tincture. It is very difficult to powder it and put it into capsules, due to the "cottony" consistency of this herb.

I have found mugwort good for hypnosis and psychic work as well as how you are using it - for dreams. I have never had mugwort tea, but it can be used in tea.
This is excerpted from my notes when I researched this herb:
Oriental medicine uses the herb to treat malaria and anemia. In China, a compress of mugwort is used to facilitate childbirth.
It is known to regulate the female cycles, and is referred to as a magical plant for its ability to increase one's psychic powers.
In Europe the herb is added to flavor foods.
CAUTION: Mugwort contains a toxic component, thujone, which can interfere with brain and nervous system functions; if in essential oil form - use 3 drops maximum at a time, when applying on the body.

>If it contains a toxic component, then wouldn't the tea be toxic? How much tea can you take before interfering with brain function? Maybe I'll stick to pillows. By the way - how do you use it in hypnosis?
Anne, I was referring to the essential oil with the caution. Essential oils are very concentrated and I wanted to make sure that you are aware of the toxicity level. In regards to hypnosis: I apply the mugwort oil before doing an induction.
In regards to tea, I don't think you have to worry about toxicity as much. To get a pound of oil out of certain plants - it can take a ton of plant material, to give you a little better idea.

Re: Mugwort
In a tea its good for menstral cramps and will make the flow a little more enthusiastic if you have problems with little or no menstral flow. However, if heavy periods are a problem I always like to use Red Raspberry leaf tea - but be careful - it could stop the flow altogether (at least in my experience). If you have a husband this could create a "false alarm" situation.
